What is Sound Buddy?

Sound Buddy is a feature of the Keypanel app that allows for the recognition and recording of sound frequencies from radio and TV broadcasts at regular intervals. With this feature, the app can determine which radio and TV content users have listened to or watched. The detected frequencies are converted into a mathematical "fingerprint" and compared to a database of advertising campaigns. No original audio recordings are made in the process. Using the collected audio measurement data, targeted research on the effectiveness of online advertising can be conducted, providing valuable insights into audience demographics.

How does Sound Buddy work?

Sound Buddy instantly converts each captured audio signal into a so-called fingerprint. This fingerprint represents a sound frequency that can be matched against a database. The generated fingerprint does not allow for the reconstruction of the original sound, meaning that Sound Buddy does not record voices, background noises, calls, or conversations and therefore does not collect any personal data. How can I activate Sound Buddy?

Activating Sound Buddy is simple! Open the Keypanel app on your mobile device and enable the "Sound Buddy" feature in the "Bonus Points" section. You can turn the feature on or off at any time. Make sure you have the latest version of your operating system installed to access the feature. If you haven’t installed the Keypanel app yet, you can download it from the Google Play Store (Android) or the App Store (iOS).

How can I manage Sound Buddy in the app?

By activating Sound Buddy in the app, you agree to our Sound Buddy Privacy Policy and allow Keypanel to access your mobile device's microphone. The app uses this feature to detect sounds from radio and TV broadcasts and processes the collected data anonymously, linking it only with non-identifiable profile data or passive measurement data. You can disable this feature at any time or adjust your device's privacy settings.
